About The Network

The JerseyConnect network is a state-of-the-art combination of hardware and applications that are the foundation for the programs and projects that meet libraries’ needs now and in the future.

About LATAs

New Jersey LATAs
JerseyConnect Points of Presence

New Jersey is divided into three telecommunications regions, known as LATAs. To save libraries from long distance charges, an access point is needed in each region.

Each site provides access to core resources for libraries in that LATA, along with redundant Internet connectivity for all connected libraries.

Each of the three sites is fully secured, with power and data redundancy protecting against downtime.

History

Launched in February of 2006, JerseyConnect features the state-of-the-art infrastructure and services that allow for the continued and improved support of the core services previously provided through the Hub Libraries program.
In addition, the JerseyConnect infrastructure and service model is designed for maximum flexibility, scalability and redundancy.
Through JerseyConnect, public libraries in the State of New Jersey are positioned to take advantage of new and emerging technologies while enjoying reliable core internet connectivity and related services.

The Future

With funding from the NTIA’s BTOP and the Gates Foundation, JerseyConnect is building the next generation of this network to provide new and enhanced services for libraries throughout New Jersey.
